Weather and warnings
- For weather forecasts, radar and satellite imagery, and cyclone and flood warnings, see the Australian Bureau of Meteorology website.
Climate averages
- For average meteorological conditions in a certain area over a certain period see the Australian Bureau of Meteorology site.
Climate data online
- For rainfall and temperature maps for recent months see the Australian Bureau of Meteorology site.
- For historical rainfall maps extending back in time on a monthly basis to 1890 see the Long Paddock site.
Australia
Climate variability risk assessments
See the Long Paddock site for:
- various indices and analyses of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) information monitored by the QCCCE
- up-to-date data, graphs, reports, and sea-surface temperature maps on the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI)
- seasonal climate outlooks based on rainfall probability maps derived by the SOI phase and Seasonal Pacific Ocean Temperature Analysis-1(SPOTA-1) forecast systems.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology website regularly comments on the El Niño-Southern Oscillation in its ENSO Wrap-Up.
The USA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), has a site dedicated to the El Niño phenomenon.
Climate change and variability
See the Australian Bureau of Meteorology site for:
- information on climate trends and variations in the Australian instrumental record, as well as the data and observation networks used
- trend maps for temperature, rainfall, evaporation and sea-suface temperatures
Global
Modelled climate change data
- Through its Data Distribution Centre, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) offers access to baseline and scenario data for representing the evolution of climatic, socioeconomic, and other environmental conditions.
- QCCCE runs an operational dynamic model in-house to supply General Circulation Model (GCM) outputs to the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) website on a monthly basis.
