Grants and funding

The Queensland Government has a range of climate change related grants and funding opportunities available to help Queensland individuals and businesses adopt sustainable practices and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Some opportunities available in Queensland include:

Queensland Sustainable Energy Innovation Fund (QSEIF)

The Queensland Sustainable Energy Innovation Fund (QSEIF), administered by Department of Environment and Resource Management, assists Queensland based organisations to develop innovative technologies that reduce consumption of fossil fuels, water or greenhouse gas emissions.  

Queensland Renewable Energy Fund

The Queensland Renewable Energy Fund (QREF) is administered by the Office of Clean Energy.  The fund is a $50 million funding program that supports the development and deployment of renewable energy generation technologies in Queensland. Funds are allocated annually as grants and loans to support proven renewable energy technologies statewide.

Smart Energy Savings Program

The Smart Energy Savings Program (SESP) is administered by the Office of Clean Energy. The program is a legislative initiative effective from 1 July 2009 introduced through the Clean Energy Act 2008. The program aims to drive energy saving improvements in Queensland businesses.

Smart Energy Savings Fund

The Smart Energy Savings Fund (SESF) is administered by the Office of Clean Energy.  The fund is a $50 million funding program to assist Queensland businesses to invest in commercial energy saving projects.

Low carbon diet funding

The Low Carbon Diet Community Funding Program, administered by Department of Environment and Resource Management, is designed to assist Queensland groups and organisations implement the Low Carbon Diet in their local area.

The two-year funding program offers grants between $2000 and $10 000 (GST exclusive) to not-for-profit incorporated community organisations, local councils and tertiary institutions throughout Queensland.

Ecobiz

ecoBiz is the Department of Environment and Resource Management’s signature partnership program with Queensland business and industry. ecoBiz assists businesses identify efficiencies in waste, water and energy for financial and environmental benefits.

Queensland – China Climate Change Fellowships

Through the Queensland-China Climate Change Fellowship Program, Queensland and Chinese researchers and other professionals will be able to participate in a short-term reciprocal exchange to scope out projects, share knowledge and ideas, cultivate strategic links, to improve mutual understanding of climate change, its potential impacts, mitigation strategies and adaptation responses.
