ClimateSmart Adaptation 2007-12
As our climate could continue to become more variable and extreme, with more frequent droughts, heatwaves and heavy rainfall, not only will we have to manage and attempt to mitigate these effects, we will also have to adapt to them. We will have to make adjustments to the way we do things, and make different decisions from those we have made previously.
ClimateSmart Adaptation 2007–12 (PDF, 661 kB) is Queensland’s plan for increasing our resilience to the potential impacts of climate change. Under the plan, government and business are required to consider the potential effects of climate change when they make decisions about:
- water planning and services
- agriculture
- human settlement
- natural environment and landscape
- emergency services and human health
- tourism, business and industry
- finance and insurance.
These initiatives, combined with actions from ClimateSmart 2050, will establish Queensland as a national leader in climate change science and policy.
