Queensland Government taking action
To maintain our lifestyle and ensure our social, economic and environmental wellbeing, the Queensland Government is leading and implementing strategies to manage the impact of climate change in the state.
Tackling climate change is a long term agenda. Queensland has already been proactive but we need to do more. ClimateSmart 2050 establishes Queensland's long term goals and provides a platform for the Government, community and industry to move to a low carbon future.

What government agencies are doing
The effects of climate change are far-reaching, and the impacts are experienced across-the-board in areas such as:
- agriculture
- water planning and services
- human settlements
- natural environment and landscapes
- emergency services and human health
- tourism, business and industry
- finance and insurance.
Mitigating, managing, and adapting to climate change involves considering its potential effects and integrating ways of managing them into policies, frameworks and infrastructure. Look on the following government agency websites to find out what's happening in Queensland.
- Sustainable energy—Department of Mines and Energy
- Transport and the environment—Queensland Transport
