Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence
The Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence (QCCCE), the only state-based climate science research centre in Australia, is a whole-of-government unit located within the Office of Climate Change.
QCCCE undertakes targeted research and delivers specialised information to inform Queensland's response to climate change, climate variability and climate extremes. It provides information and science on climate change impacts, including the application of international research and science to the Queensland context.
In April 2011, QCCCE released Queensland Coastal Processes and Climate Change which highlights the processes which shape our coastal regions and the potential impacts of climate change on coasts and coastal communities.
In October 2010, QCCCE released Climate Change in Queensland: What the Science is Telling Us which highlights the latest climate science and the likely impacts of climate change in Queensland.
QCCCE’s research is leading edge, innovative and most importantly, addresses climate issues of relevance to Queensland. QCCCE’s main functions are:
- managing and providing climate information and data for business, industry and the community
- developing and delivering tools to help stakeholders understand and manage climate risk
- understanding the features of Queensland’s climate, modelling the climate system and providing advice on climate change projections
- understanding the impacts of climate change on the Queensland coast
- working collaboratively with Australian and international research agencies, industry and all levels of government.
